The Skin Business Grant Program  

Terms & Conditions 

Successful grant applicants and recipients will understand and agree to the following terms and conditions. 

Application Period 

The grant application period commences on December 14, 2020 at 10:00 AM CST and closes on December 20, 2020 at 11:59 PM CST

Eligibility 

·       Applicant must be 18 years or older

·       Applicant must identify as Black or African American, and own majority (greater than or equal to 51%) of business.

·       Applicant’s business must be based in Austin or surrounding communities (Not San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, etc.)

·       Applicant’s business sells, manufactures or provides skincare products or services (i.e. facials, products or tools for face and/or body). Lash, brow, waxing, tanning, nails, makeup, hair product/service do not qualify. 

·       Applicant must identify as a small business with less than 5 employees and annual sales not to exceed $50,000.

Applicant must be also classify as either:

-   a pre-launch business, meaning you have a business plan and are planning to launch within the next 12 months

-   an early stage business, meaning you have launched in the past 12 months and are working to grow a customer base

- a growth-stage business, meaning you launched over 12 months ago and are working to scale your operations

Selection Process 

eleMINT has a strong presence in our community and currently maintain good relationships with some perspective grantees. Therefore, we have decided to outsource judging. Our selection committee comprises local leaders, who will review all submitted applications. The following criteria will be taken into consideration with each application:

2. Social Impact & Mission

3. Commitment to business and potential for growth

Award

This grant will be awarded to one (1) recipient, who will receive a $1500 award, in addition to a one-on-one discovery session with Shauntavia Ward, founder of eleMINT Skin; exploring entrepreneurship, idea development, branding, fundraising and business operations. The cash portion of this grant award is intended to support: 

Rent

Payroll

Marketing 

Product Development 

Business Operations 

Please retain receipts for use of funds as this may be requested at a later date. 

Confidentiality 

All personal and proprietary business information and documents submitted by applicant for use of determining or awarding grant recipient, is strictly confidential and will be kept private   

Recipient Requirements

Grantors [eleMINT Skin] are required to report any awarded funds, either individual or organizational, to the IRS. Due to this requirement, the selected grant recipient will be subject to completing tax form W9, and will receive form 1099 in return, for personal or business tax filing. Please note, if your business does not have a taxpayer ID, a social security number will be suitable.
